Message from the Chair
Jennifer Gibbins Durbin
It is my privilege to serve as the 24th Chair of the San Antonio Bar Foundation. I am proud of the accomplishments of the Foundation and the Bar’s service to the San Antonio community through educational programs and charitable gifts.
The Foundation’s activities include:
18th Annual Fun Run for Justice on November 21, 2009, at Sam’s Burger Joine (330 Grayson Street, San Antonio, TX). This 4-mile family-fun event, starts at Sam’s Burger Joint, goes through Brackenridge part and back to Sam’s Burger Joint. Proceeds from the Fun Run benefit the Police Atheletic League (PAL) programs, which assist at-risk youth and future gifts of the Foundation.
16th People’s Law School
Saturday, February 20, 2010, St. Mary’s University School of Law
People’s Law School is an annual (and sometimes twice annual) presentation by volunteer attorneys who provide, at no cost, legal and consumer information to the San Antonio community on a range of pertinent issues and developments.
2010 Peacemaker Awards Gala

Each year, the Foundation recognizes and awards those who have contributed to the cause of peace in our community. The 2010 Peacemaker Awards Honorees were:

“Elf” Louise Locker
2010 Peacemaker Award Recipient
This year, the San Antonio Bar Foundation was honored to announce that “Elf” Louise Locker was the 2010 Peacemaker Award recipient for her consistently outstanding contributions to the lives of the underprivileged families in San Antonio. Her gifts of time, energy and creativity have improved the quality of lives for thousands of people and inspired philanthropy to organizations and individuals alike.

Center for the Intrepid
2010 Corporate Community Service Award Recipient
The 2010 Corporate Service Award recipient is the The Center for the Intrepid for nationally-recognized excellence in rehabilitating and improving the lives of United States service men and men who suffered serious injury while engaged in service to our country.

The Honorable Phil Hardberger
2010 Community Service Award Recipient
The 2010 Community Service Award honoree is former Mayor of San Antonio and Chief Justice of the Fourth Court of Appeals, the Honorable Phil Hardberger. Few citizens of San Antonio have contributed more to the economic development and peaceful synergies of San Antonio’s political, nonprofit adn corporate resources than Mr. Hardberger, who is now a shareholder with Cox Smith.
